It's Not Just About The Lessons

Every morning, I wake with a smile.  It's still no easier getting out of bed now then it was when I was 10, but atleast now I'm smiling.  I wake with a purpose.  I stumble out of bed, throw on some clothes and put the kettle on for my tea.  I brush my teeth and in less then 10 minutes I will make my way out the back door, across the drive and down the hill to the one place where I feel at home... with the animals.

The barn is a peaceful place.  Sure, it's full of excitement, too - when the horses know their breakfast is coming, the dogs run in and beg for playtime after a good nights sleep, the goat climbs on every hay bale, cabinet and mounting block, turning over cups and buckets along the way.  The ducks are a treat, too - what happy little ones they are!

And the chickens... oh the chickens!  I never knew how entertaining and full of personality they are!  Every day is like Christmas, collecting the eggs and seeing the different sizes, shapes and colors... WOW!  And my girls are friendly, too - letting me pet them and on occassion, hold them, too... what fun!

There is so much going on at Fairweather Farm on any given day and I feel truly blessed to be a part of it.  This is where I board my horse, Buddy and where I take lessons... but Fairweather isn't just about the lessons - it's about the friendships, too.  And learning.  This is a working farm, certified organic, so I'm also asking questions and learning how things grow.  And I'm fascinated!  I remember the very first tomato I ever planted in my own little garden a few years back - and I was so taken with the whole process.

You will hear me talk about all of this in more detail in future blogs - and I am so excited to share it with you!  I hope I've peaked your curiousity enough to come back for more.  If so, I'll see you soon... until then, take care'a you  <3

Greetings from Fairweather Farm!

As I sit in front of my computer, dreaming up ways to dazzel you with my literary genius (haha!), I've decided a video introduction might be best.  This way, you will be introduced immediately to most (but not all) of the key players you'll hear about in future posts.  So... greetings from Fairweather Farm, where the veggies grow organic, the chickens lay delicious eggs and the animals roam free and happy - and SAFE!
